Whenever I hear about the Intayon Ilocos Sur Festival, I immediately think of unity and pride. The osfestival, celebrated in the beautiful province of Iloc Sur, brings together different municipalities to showcase what makes each town special. The word “Intayon” means “Let us go together,” and that meaning can truly be felt during the celebration. It is not just an event—it is a reminder that despite differences, everyone moves forward as one community.Held in the historic city of Vigan, the festival is full of life and color. The street dancing performances are my favorite part because you can see how much effort and creativity each group puts into their costumes and choreography. The music echoes through the streets, and you can feel the excitement of both performers and spectators. There are also booths selling local products like Vigan longganisa, bagnet, chicharon, and Abel Iloko, which make the experience even more authentic and memorable.
What makes the Intayon Festival special for me is how it keeps traditions alive. It allows the younger generation to appreciate our culture and reminds us to be proud of where we come from. More than just a festival, it is a celebration of identity, unity, and heritage that continues to strengthen the spirit of Ilocos Sur.
